This is not boating weather!!!

Todd, you needed an F-250 super duty diesel and a Fisher 8' plow for that driveway!!! You are the man! I only made room for two cars in the driveway and the wife's car is stuck in one of the garage's haha well its supposed to be 46*and rain on Monday so maybe it'll all be gone .

For someone living in the "driest state on the driest continent", they are some amazing shots of "every day" life.

We went out on the boat today. There was a crosswind at the marina that made docking a little more challenging than normal. Is this the wrong thread for this update?

Stir the pot!

We only got 14"on the south shore of Nassau County, unfortunately my snow blower was a victim of Sandy so it was back to the shovel for me.

Looks like you got slammed as much as us in Melville! We had 30" without the drifts.

Having a 28" 2-stage 9.5HP Troy Bilt with chains (and 2 teenage daughters who I bribed to help) made it less painful.

We went for a boat ride yesterday. Moved from NY long ago. This helps me understand why. If I never see another snow flake in my life, it would be too soon. Stay safe

Were actually starting to look for another home and our first stop is Southport .NC .

We had about 2' or so here in Farmingdale. Drifts were much higher. My 17 year old snowblowe,r and the first time help form my wife and two kids, made the job a lot easier than I thought it would be.
The best part is that I offered to take them all out to the local Diner for lunch after we finished the big dig. Halfway to the Diner I realized that I didn't take my wallet with me. When I mentioned it, my wife told me not to worry about it because she would pay for lunch. That was another first!

I definitely need to re-examine a plow truck type set-up. I'm going to look at the Jeep Wrangler 4 door as my lease ends next March. It is my understanding that they are rated for a plow so I get to have an SUV (my preference) as well as a plow.

BTW: You're the man. I didn't come off a 28 hour shift. I had a solid 8 hours sleep the night before! If I had done 28 hours I would have parked in a snow bank and went to bed!!

Joe, the answer is sort of "Yes". My idea is that my boat provides comforts of home for my crew and the fact that we have passion to travel and explore new areas, all I need to do is move the boat in to those areas we wish to stay for a while. Practically speaking, I don't see myself living aboard year round until I retire. But, even then, how long will that last? A year or two? Thus, I can say that as we experienced for the past two years, all we need is to find a port to keep out boat there and then workout the schedule to use her.

In regards to switching my permanent residence, I have the same situation where besides the jobs I want my kids finish schools here. So, I'm stock here for a long time. I can't predict the future, therefore we take one year at the time. In the meantime, the goal is to find a way to keep my boat someplace warm during off season here and it'll make the winter fly by very fast and will be actually very much adventurous.

Alex,

You need to follow Robert's system!! A waterfront house up here with the boat in the back yard and another in Florida for the winter. Then run her down in the fall & back up in the spring!!

He invited me to do the run a couple of times and man would I have loved to do that cruise. Problem is my wife would have changed the locks on my house if I was gone more than a couple of days!!! :wow:

That's the idea with one difference, my boat is my waterfront property...:smt001.....No question, Robert's setup is nice. But, the way we use our boat I'm not ready to make permanent commitments, real estate wise. I'm not even convinced yet, which coast of FL I'd like to be at. That's where having "floating condo" pays off. Our backyard is always different and if we have seen enough or don't like something we simply move on.:smt001

Here's a few more from this storm. BTW: I have to say the response by the municipalities to this storm was just plain ABYSMAL!!! I still have yet to see a town, county or state truck plowing! I have seen the small flatbed subcontractor trucks out but that is it! Unbelievable!! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1360635987.419335.jpg

I took this one while driving so I only caught 1/2 of the car. He is in the median ditch between 2 guardrails and will need a crane to get out!!
