All,
I just wanted to offer a brief update letting you know that today will be my last day working for Sea Ray.
I spent my first 10 years at Brunswick just trying to earn the right to work with the Sea Ray team. And starting in late 2012 I was blessed to work for the best brand in boating for a bit more than three years. However, a recent internal reorganization has resulted in the elimination of the senior marketing position, as those functions will be handled through other departments/positions moving forward.
There's been a lot of change in boating in the last several years, and lots of change at Sea Ray. I'm thankful that I was able to play a part in helping the marketing at Sea Ray reflect the premium brand I know it to be.
I'm disappointed that I won't have the opportunity to see through many of the projects I was passionate about, including the new Sea Ray Owners Club. You should know -- from an insider's perspective -- that Sea Ray really wants to do right by their global network of Sea Ray owners. Sea Ray was in rather a tough spot when I joined in late 2012, and there were simply some matters that had to be attended to first. But the company is committed to the the owners that truly bring the brand to life. I'm excited to see how that evolves in the years to come. I know for a fact that there is money set aside to help Sea Ray owners through events that celebrate the Sea Ray lifestyle -- the very kind of events we see so often here on CSR.com. If you haven't registered at the new Sea Ray Owners Club site, please do -- they're looking to support the very kinds of events that you all regularly conduct.
There's a tendency in a transition like this to look back with sorrow or regret, but I view things quite differently. For the last 13 years I was given the opportunity to work with people I loved and cared about on work we found meaningful and enjoyable. And I met so many wonderful people along the way. Sea Ray is a world-class brand. And Sea Ray owners are a world-class community. I'm grateful that I was able to be a part of it.
I'll be turning over the SeaRayCorporate handle to the folks who are continuing on with the company. I wish them -- and you -- the very best for the future.
I'll set up a new handle on CSR and I hope to see some of you on the water and perhaps at a future CSR or Sea Ray Owners Club event.
Sincerely,
Matt Guilford
PS. For anyone who wants to keep in touch, I'm on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
