Well I am not sure to be honest but I am going to give the skipper the benefit of the doubt and call him highly skilful in controlling his yacht.

I think it's a little bit of both.

Looks like a pretty high pucker factor for the guy standing on the pulpit!

Looks like skill to me.
He approaches the inlet perfectly, from upwind at full throttle using the waves’ force to place himself perfectly aligned! :smt038

That's what Sebastion Inlet on the east coast of Fl looks like on some days. I gaurantee he's been through that inlet many times.

Skill and luck and practice, practice, practice!

Nope that was plain ole Skill, he set that boat up for the next wave to drive him through the opening, he was heading straight into the pier, but knew that wave would take him beyond it and into safe Harbor...And remember he has one small engine and one small prop and a rudder.....That's skill.

I wonder what the guy on the front of the boat did to deserve that treatment. That was one hell of a ride.

Absolute skill! The guy on the bow had to change suits I'm sure. Well done!

Skill, Luck, Miracle.... That skipper has got some HUGE BRASS CAJONES!! WOW!!!! Great Job

The boat is a Delphia. We used to be and still sort of are the dealer for the mid-atlantic. They have basically stopped pushing them in the states with the economy. They are very nimble as most modern sailboats are. This would have been much harder to do in a powerboat.

I go with skill as the entire thing looked planned and none of the crew members looked frazzled. Great job though and hope I never have the opportunity to handle a situation like that!

I totally agree. I thought everyone on board had a kind of "ho-hum" look on their faces as if it was not that big a deal.

That's just crazy boating.....must have good insurance. Not alot of room for full power. Looks a bit tight for me, Mike.

I don't know about the skill vs luck thing but I would have done some serious damage to boat, crew and the camera guy if I had the helm of that boat... wow..
