I’ve always been Leery about 3rd party batteries, I wonder about quality control and fire hazardI bought the DeWalt (tool only) their fast charger and some highly rated 6.5 Ah 3rd party batteries.

Does anyone who does not have bottom paint clean and polish below the waterline?
100% agree when it comes to dewalt…. I just looked at my dewalt batteries they were new in 2016….. still going strongI’ve always been Leery about 3rd party batteries, I wonder about quality control and fire hazard
Batteries Plus, makes them while you wait. I’ve had them rebuild old packs for a 1/3 of cost of new.I generally agree with you, but for $60 vs $200 or 1/3 the price, I thought I'd give them a shot. These have a 4.9 review (for whatever that is worth).
The Dewalt name brand are just so pricey. If I was making my living on them day to day, I'd buck up, but for a tool Ill use 2-3 days a year, I think they will work just fine. Or I'll return them!
Me too….. when I was doing heavy duty home renovations I had six being recharged at any given time….. it didn’t take me long to replace the knock offs….. what I have now is 4 dewalts that are 7 years old still going strong…. Pick your poison.Batteries Plus, makes them while you wait. I’ve had them rebuild old packs for a 1/3 of cost of new.
+1 on DeWalt. My OLD 12V batteries are about 10 years old. Still going. My newer 20V batteries are 4 years old IIRC and still as strong as the day they were new.Me too….. when I was doing heavy duty home reservations I had six being recharged at any given time….. it didn’t take me long to replace the knock offs….. what I have now is 4 dewalts that are 7 years old still going strong…. It’s not only run hours…. As important is longevity…. I have never been wronged by DewaltYou guys are right. On strait up battery performance, the Dewalt brand name outperforms. However, on a $/W*hr basis the 3rd party can give the brand name a run for the money. In other words, I'll need to buy more cheaper ones to get the same run time.
Got the swim platform non-skid done yesterday. It's the first time I've ever polished a swim platform. @Stee6043 it's nice as nice as yours, but nice enough.
The 3rd party batteries I bought seem OK, get about 15 minutes of buff time out of each one, but even the biggest badest, fastest charger DeWalt won't have the spare ready to go when I run down the second, so I end up with dead time.
So looking to add some more batteries. I thought I'd try a set of DeWalt brand name, but seems there are at least 3 or 4 battery types, so trying to decide witch one is the "best" for the polishing duties.
In the Dewalt lineup, they have a 6 Ah XR, Flex Volt and now the Power Stack. I dont plan on any 60V tools, so I think I can eliminate the Flex Volt, but which between the XR line and Power Stack is better for this job? Also have 8,9 and 10 Ah in the XR line, which might be better for a buffer. So far the Power Stack's largest battery is 5Ah.
Anybody buy some new Dewalt batteries lately and have any intel before I lay down some more $$$?
