270 Sundeck Thread - Questions & Answers

Morning all, I was out fishing earlier in the week and was deep water fishing with my engine idling. (270 SD with 6.2L & B3 drive) Just after I pulled up my line on the electric reel my engine died. I tried to crank it up and it would spin over just fine but wouldn't catch to start. I then pushed the throttle only button down by the pivot point of the handle and moved the handle forward to give it more throttle and it started, but it was not in gear. When I pulled back on the handle to get to neutral in order to put it into gear the engine died again. I did the same thing to get it started again and then quickly moved the handle to get it into reverse, and then quickly moved the handle forward again to get it into forward drive and eventually got home with engine alarms beeping. Water temp, voltage, oil pressure, all looked fine but check engine was displayed on Smart Systems. I haven't got a scanner to see what the codes are yet but does anybody know what this could be? Maybe IAC valve?

Exact symptoms of a bad IAC valve.

Looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I'm looking at a 2016 270 Sundeck OB. Do we need to go to Sea Ray for replacement cushion assemblies? Not finding anything online.
The cockpit, aft facing starboard lounger cushion assembly needs to be replaced and Im trying to find out where to get it.
The cushion is ripped but more importantly the starboard that is connected to it underneath between the cushion and the hatch is cracked in half. I attached a photo with an arrow pointing to the cushion in question.

Local vinyl trim shop should be able to help you. Guy in my area specializes in boats, he even stocks the starboard to place the seat backs.

2016 is hitting on 7 years old. Replacement items become scarce at this point. As stated, a good local upholstery shop can fix that.

You could lookup the sea Ray part numbers from the manual and go to the local dealer or search eBay , but not guarantee you’ll find a skin for that.

Good morning, All.
Has anyone installed a transom mount transducer on a 2005 270 Sundeck (or, a 240 or other model/year that has the same transom). I'm trying to find the best location to mount the transducer, but there's a lot of varying contours back there on our boats. They say you should stay away from strakes, the prop, or behind anything that would cause air bubbles or turbulent water.
Has anyone had success with the location they chose? Pictures would be great.

I don't have a picture, but you won't have iny issues finding a spot to install it. Take a look at the installation directions that came with your unit. Once you look at the directions, it actually becomes pretty straight forward. There's really no difference in your transom from thousands and thousands of other boats out there, either. So don't get too wrapped up in "will this work on "this" hull"... yes it will! :)

Thanks for the reply. The spot that I’m thinking about is the area to the left of the trailer bunk between the strakes. But, as you can see in the pics, the hull indents about 3 inches right were I’d like to put the transducer. They say to stay away from anything that may cause any turbulence. I’m concerned that the change in depth of the hull in that spot might cause turbulence.

Thanks for the pics.

You could put in on the flat of the strake (that is immediately left of the bunk) or you could put it on the next "section" just a few inches past that strake. You could put it where the bunk is and just cut a bit off of the bunk... or move the winch stand backwards a couple inches if it won't mess with your tongue weight - it depends on what kind of tongue weight you have now, but 2" won't do much. Lot's of options! :)

Thanks, again. I like the spot you pointed out that's the flat of the strake immediately left of the bunk.
