- Oars for now!
So, we have similar pickups. Cool! Great to compare.
I was quoted $700 for the Firestone Air Bags installed without the on-board compressor – an additional $300 for the on-board compressor. Or I could simply buy a much less expensive portable air compressor and plug it into either a cigarette lighter plug or “alligator clip” to the battery. This air bag systems is supposed to add about 1,000 lbs. capacity to the hitch carrying capability.
Also, they suggested that I upgrade my brakes. About $300.
What I haven’t investigated yet is my tires:
Via Sea Ray 310 DA Owner’s Manual = Boat dry = 13,350 lbs.
Full tank of gas = 200 gal = (A gallon of gasoline weighs roughly 6.3 pounds) = 1,260 lbs.
Full tank of Water = 35 gal (A gallon of water weighs roughly 8.43 pounds) = 291.9 lbs.
Crap we carry on the boat = 300 lbs.
Total of approximately = 15,201.9
Trailer = something like 1,500 to 2,500 lbs.
