410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

I have a 1993 40’ sea ray express. We need to access the starboard side of the starboard engine. We removed the bolts under the seat behind the helm that hold down the entire helm seat assembly so we can lift the assembly up to get to the starboard engine hatch. However there is a part of the back of the seat behind the helm that attaches to the side of the boat and there is no access to it. Can someone help with accessing the starboard engine.

I’m pretty sure we have access panels to all the stanchions. Do you not? I’ll check ours next time I’m there. Getting the headliner down (and ultimately back up) is a tall task
stanchion access we do have. unfortunately, I need access to the bow rails that run the centerline of the bow ( the ones a sun pad would attach to).

The aft facing seat - has a wrap around backrest. The cubby just aft of that, remove the inside fwd panel (a few screws), and behind that is a wing nut bolt - which threads into that seat backrest. You may not even need to remove a panel - stick your head in there and look.

Im sure you’ve also seen the metal piece on the cockpit floor that catches / holds down the back of that furniture piece. You have to lift up on the front of the furniture after you slide it back to clear that awful contraption! If your not sure what Im talking about - lift off the rear facing seat cushion and look down into that storage space.

Ah got it. Probably something we should do as well but it does look like quite a task

Indeed, and that's why I've been holding off on rebedding those center rails. Alas, everything else is now rebedded and I can no longer delay the inevitable...

Does anyone know what years the hardtop was available on 410 Express Cruisers? Was it only available with diesels or with gas engines too?

Question about electrical settings when 410 left unattended. When you park a 410 DA and its not being used do you shut off battery switches or leave them on? I have done both. Last week I left the batteries engaged with shore power on and batteries engaged. All breakers (12v and 120v) were off except refrigerator. All lights were off. I returned today and the port batteries are reading 10v. Starboard 12v. No rain and bilge pumps are not running so no obvious draw. Trying to figure out why port batteries are low. The charger should have kept up even with a slight draw. All batteries are brand new AGM.

Thanks in advance

Something is up, you had the AC converter switch on the whole time?

I do shut out DC side down completely, but I know a few who leave them on. I then leave the ac converter (batt charger), refrigerator, and port systems (to power a security camera) on.

I know over winter if I leave my fusion radio in the boat it will draw down the house bank, I think it’s the memory function as that bypasses the solenoid in our boat and draws a tiny bit of current continuously

Same, I shut down all DC. For AC I leave the Inverter, Refrig and Port/Starboard Systems ones on for outlets I have my synch modules for Govee and Blink connected to.

Well I'm one step closer to the long winters nap. I got the fluids changed this last weekend. All it needs now is a good wash and I'm ready to go.

I currently plan to get pulled this coming weekend.

PS - I can't believe I still have the patience to run this West Marine oil change pump. This dang thing takes an hour to pump 7 quarts of hot 25W oil. My future is either a different boat with a reverso or a better pump. I don't think I can do this again :):)

The Reverso is the best thing ever. How many boat bucks to retrofit one? I would imagine there’s a drain plug in the pan you could get to. It also works wonders for the genset since that oil fill is a real PIA

I want to say a 5 port rig can be had for less than a boat buck. But I don't think I'd be comfortable installing that thing myself. So it's probably $2-3k by the time it's all done? I feel like this is one of those things on my list of "must haves" for the next boat...

I’d agree, oil changes are so simple with it, and not a drop hits the bilge floor.

+1 for the Reverso and -1 for that ridiculous useless jabsco oil pump for the Big blocks. I sold my old one to my dock mate, for some reason he loves it.

Has anyone replaced their Oceanair Sky Screen above the bed in the Vberth? Having a hard time finding the size. It says 20x20, but can't really tell where they came up with that number. Finding a lot for Lewmar hatches, but I have TaylorMade.
TIA

And that's a wrap on 2023 for me. Time to start on the winter list.

I'd say the ole Smoove wax held up pretty good again this year. I washed it Saturday before heading to storage yesterday. Of course this is the perfect sun angle but it actually looks really good for being year-end. I'm really pleased with that stuff (including their boat wash)...

I totally agree, I used the Smoove product last off season and it has held up well. I think using their boat wash was the ticket. :)
