410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

What’s the consensus on bilge blowers. Should one be in and one out. Mine both suck air out.

The 410’s don’t rally have scoops to bring in air to bilge. I’m thinking should be one in and one out.

Hey guys! Finally able to log in again. Not sure what was up but my company had CSR website on lock down... Would anyone with a 400 DA (i have a '98)be able to share the part number for the Engine Room hatch lift. I tried to search but can't find it. I appreciate the advice from the Facebook page but may just buy a new one if they aren't too crazy expensive. Mine is slow to open and closes fine if I lift up on it while closing which is weird.

Gasoline boat? Both need to draw air out of the bilge. There needs to be hoses to the lowest part of the bilge from the blower inlets. Reason you ask? Fuel vapor is heaver than air and will accumulate in the low points. It would be bad to pump air (oxygen) into a fuel rich environment. And, the blowers will draw any vapors from the low points and vent them out of the boat.

Port side intake, starboard side exhaust on our 2002 410 diesel. As far as I know that’s the stock setup

Diesel - both of the blowers on my 400DA and on the 52DB exhaust out.
Gasoline is more critical on configuration - It looks like the person asking has a Gasoline powered boat.

Yes gasoline. Thanks for the details. Had a friend of mine with an older 400 and his was set up with one in and one out and didn’t think that was correct.

But it seems some responded with that set up also like Strecker25.

Makes sense.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm not sure this is going to be very useful for you but the Sea Ray part #'s are here:

So what are you guys going to do with your boats this winter??

I plan to start my routine of Saturday morning visits to my boat in the next week or two. Nothing big planned this year for me. A new fridge and new flooring last year, I think I'm going to take it easy this off season.

I have a new faucet for the master head, a new drain assembly for the galley sink, I may also replace the faucet in the day head. I think that's about it outside of the usual wash/wax. Should be downright relaxing :)

On the sunny days I’m hoping to spend some time on the bow under the shrink wrap and really buff the nonskid back to its former glory. Other than that I don’t have a lot planned, but I may do the cockpit fridge in the spring.

400 Sundancer Swim ladder cover:

Has anyone successfully filled the cavity behind where the swim ladder cover hinge connects to the platform? Pretty much all but one of my screws are loose now and I need to do something to properly fix it. I haven't fully taken it apart yet but I suspect the backing wood is all but gone if it was wood to begin with. Im digging into it this weekend but wanted to see if anyone has tackled this before?

Both mine exhaust out as well. Can’t think of a good reason to have a blower working as an intake…those little blowers don’t create much airflow. Not going to make much difference compared with 2 big block or diesel engines running.

Agreed. I’ll check it again in the spring. Could be someone swapped on and just reversed polarity so it’s spinning the wrong way

So what did you find? I was going to suggest cutting the glass away forward of, and below the hinge and scrape out the rot, replace with marine ply and/or epoxy or something. The nice thing is that you can make a mess of the underside of your platform and nobody will ever notice :)

Funny you should ask. I took off my swimplatform as it was wet and spongy. Its my winter project. Ive taken the underside glass off and removed the balsa core so I can tell you the hinge mounting screws are pretty short and screwed into a balsa wood covered by a thin layer of fiberglass. Assuming the wood isn't soaking wet and turned to mush, I would suggest over-drilling the holes (make them larger), take out some of the balsa core from around the hole and then fill it with thickened epoxy. Then redrill pilot holes for the screws. The below picture is self explanatory

Thanks! Any pics of install? Did you add supports?

If you email Hurley with details of your platform and dinghy they will tell you exactly where to mount it. Typically one edge of the H30 itself will align with the transom of the dink +/-.

Supports will depend on what size dinghy you plan to put up there I'd say...

I've got the extension on mine:

Photos on the 450DA here:

The purpose of that green line is to retrieve the unit if it was to fall overboard.

I don't believe it would float.

BEST !
