Anyone Noticed CSR Site Slow Response Lately?

So now CSR makes cursors disappear? Um.... not sure how to handle that one.

The clues are beginning to point to a server problem as opposed to an Internet problem. Now that I am looking, I have noticed the speed issue primarily in two places:

When going from Page 1 of the Forum posts to any other page
When actually posting in a thread

General browsing/reading through the threads on a page does not seem to have any latency nor does going from thread to thread on a page. While iowait times are not necessarily the best indicator of a performance problem, your web guy may be starting to look in the correct direction. Slow disks with fast processors only mean that you get to wait faster. In reality, you can have a disk bottleneck with 0% iowait.

I've actually dealt with that one too. I think the bottom line is that there are no real complaints, everything is functional, but I think there is some weirdness going on. Response times are often slower than you would expect.

Tried to edit post #7 in the Harbor Freight thread and it locked up 3 time when I hit submit so I gave up and put the additional information in another quick post. MM

Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates, I was traveling the past week when Jim first reported the issues over to me. As mentioned the site has actually been on the same server for the better part of 4 years with resource usage not really ever going too high, this is also the only site with any traffic on the server. I think with some of the additional mods done to the site over the years, general increase in traffic and increase in traffic from the holiday this may have made some issues creep up though not seen in any historical usage data of the resources on the server. I had my team decom the old server and replace it with a newer server to help sustain growth for several more years. The new server has 5x the processing power, 4x the amount of ram and also utilizes a higher capacity raid array of drives. That should help out for the moment ;)

FWIW
Well, hopefully the downtime on the site yesterday was scheduled maintenance. It appears that whatever transpired has fixed the speed problems. As of this morning, the speed and responsiveness of the site is back to what I would consider normal.

Thanks.

I was going through some sort of withdrawl yesterday
Glad we're back !!!

A new oddity....
many threads have several more posts than showing on the index screen
an example right now my thread about the pt boat resto shows 0 responses
there are several.
a few others doing this too
