I'm new to this site, but I have had my 1978 SRV200 for about 15 years and have wondered did all the boats get the built Especially for ( the persons name) Tag on the dash ? or only when you ordered one? Great site wish I had looked for it sooner.

Good question. My boat had the same tag from the original owner. I never bothered removing it, but it finally came off a couple weeks ago when I accidentally hit the area with a pressure washer.

Those stick on's were offered as a "feel good" by dealers for several years....perhaps they still are. All they mean is that the guy who's name is on the tag thingy bought the boat from a dealer.

There is one boat in our marina that has 4 of them, each with a different name, stuck neatly on the dash, one below the other kind of as an ownership history.

I have seen these on ebay that are blank and you can get your name put on them.

There is one on our '89 340da for the original owner who happen to be Scott Samuelson the owner of Swimplatforms, Inc. He ordered the boat new in '88 when he was a still a Sea Ray employee. It is still in the galley.

The way it used to work would be you'd special-order a boat through a dealer. Then when it came in and you registered it, the "tag" would be sent to you directly from Sea Ray. Maybe some dealers did their own version of this, but it was a definitely a Sea Ray (the company) thing.

This is what happened with our '97 250 Da. We ordered it from the factory when we lived in Japan, and took delivery when we moved to PC, Fl. I wanted as much power as possible from a fuel injected small block. That meant a 5.7 LX EFI. It wasn't an option, so I asked my salesman to ask Sea Ray if they would drop one in for us. Since we had time, they ordered the boat from the factory specially made with that engine and every possible option available, except the microwave.

They sent us two plaques. One made its way to the dash of our 340 a short ten years later. : )

That dealer must have liked you!

The "tag" program officially stopped in 1993, so they must have made a special request for you.

You can buy this plagues from Flounder Pounder Marine. We added ours to our boat several years ago.

So you can still get those tags off e-bay with the searay logo on it? I'll have to check it out. My tag reads Karl Koenes. and I have your boat.

my friend gave me one that was blank... he bought a sea ray brand new in 89' and the dealer gave him a blank.. and one with his name on it...

Every so often I will google the guys name, I"ve often wondered what has happened to vehicles I used to have, just thought this guy might be the same way. I got a hold of someone who had owned my 68 camaro in the 70's said it was his wifes favorite car, she just had to get a picture of her next to it.

There are a couple tags (search sea ray emblem) on ebay now. (No affiliation with the seller-other than I just ordered one) :)
