Hi All: anyone out there who has replaced their Cockpit cover for a 25 foot Sundancer 1996 to 2005 using the Sunbralle materials for a local shop? Covers the front windows all way to the swim platform... Approx price? Tring to avoided sticker shock.. A copy cat online comp says $500 plus shipping back and forth... and will have to put the snaps on.

$500 is super cheap. Makes me question whether it's really Sunbrella and/or if it is truly a proper fit. I paid $900 about 7 years ago for my 260DA at a local canvas maker.

If you buy a cover outright, you will always have to put the snaps on yourself. There is no pattern for the snaps.

I was going to guess something closer to $2k but if Lazy Daze got it for $900, shows what I know :)

The guy that owns the canvas shop is also a long time customer of mine - I also send a lot of business his way ;) Meaning, that $500 is REALLY super cheap.

Thanks, I already talked with Kevin C and he was helpful but the original patterns are no longer available for my boat...

Yes, You are right its not the original material...But it's not like the cockpit cover is at the same time as the Bimini... Just trying to keep everything dry for a couple of more years till I retire and sell...

John,

Is this for daily seasonal storage or for winter use? If you are looking for a full cover for winter then you might want to consider a cover that goes down to below the rub rail would be better (although more expensive) and more suitable. For this we can get an exact fit cover.

While Great Lakes does not have the exact pattern for you boat since your boat was built in the Arizona plant, we did discuss getting one for a similar model 250DA - just for a different model year with the same hull. As we discussed the windshield was the primary concern since that parts changed between years. Perhaps the cockpit cover would work sufficiently - outside of this I doubt any company is going to have an model fit better that is in the $500 range.

Also, do you currently have a cockpit cover? If so perhaps it could just be repaired to hold you over. We could certainly accommodate repairs.

Obviously I can't speak to the quality of the material of what you're looking at - just that $500 is nowhere near the "going price" for anything even half decent. But, as a side note, my canvas was toast tweed, including the original cockpit cover. I had my new cockpit cover made in black. To save from having all of the camper canvas re-done or attempting to dye it, I just had the canvas maker make two new boot covers in black.

update: The full custom local upholstery Sunbrella cockpit cover is going to be $850... which if it turns out like the Bimini I think is a good price and I won't have to install any snaps...
