Over the years

My GF does not understand or get this forum, or others I am on, or guys groups texts (banter and such) for that matter. Well, she recently joined a ladies dinner group, they use WhatsApp to plan events. She was in a group chat the other day about something meaningless and I took the opportunity to call her out :)

My wife doesn't get it either. But she does appreciate the info I get here that saves us money, so she tolerates me being a sponsor.
I joined in 2008, right before we bought our current boat new. I could have used the site when we had our 240 SD, but had no idea it existed. I remember when Gary, Hampton, multiple Franks and Mike (@turtle's Boat???) were top posters. There are more whose names I can't remember. Gary's long form postings with pictures were amazing. And then wingless came along, ass wipe. I also remember when Dom died. And then there were the virtual Volvo sailing races everyone competed in. @mrsrobinson, I remember you from those early days as well.
This site is my daily addiction. It is a great distraction from work:eek:. Unfortunately, I have never met any members in person. There is only one other member from our lake, which is amazing to me because about 1/3 of the boats I see on the lake are Sea Rays.

Dom...damn, forgot about that. John (Hampton) showed up not too long ago IRCC. What happened to Dr. Ron?

I remember Dom, and his posts come back in searches frequently.

I think there are a lot of lookers and readers who never post. 2-3 Sea Day owners at my current marina know the site, but don't post.

I joined when we decided to move up from the Maxum 2700 to a SeaRay 320/340. Learnt a ton on here as we were looking and trying to decide between the 2 boats. After much reading and careful consideration of the many comments and issues that were discussed on the 320 and 2003.5-2008 340 Forums, we decided to go with the 340. After we got her, every time I had an issue I was not familiar with, just had to pop up SCR, do a search or ask the question. ALWAYS found a solution. Thanks to all that helped me over the years. Doing my best to pay it forward with the knowledge I have gained through this site and working on other SeaRays for friends as we enter our 8th season with our 340.

As far as this site saving me money I’ll have to disagree. The ideas on here are all so good I want it all! Although on my last boat I had my new electronics installed and now on my current boat I’m doing it myself because of the info here! so maybe there is a savings!

I joined back in 2010 when I bought an '88 230WE. Didn't really post much then just read and learned. I stopped coming here when I sold that and bought a Regal 2665, I replaced this site with the Regal Owners Forum (as if this site can ever be replaced!) but made my way back when I bought my current 370EC. Delivery day for that one popped up in my FB memories, yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of that day.

I kind of agree with Steve above that this site is a double edged sword when it comes to saving money. It does just divert it away from a mechanic's pocket and allows me to buy other cool stuff that I see here.

Yeah, maybe not a money saver. I found out about VesselView Mobile on this site. Then I had to have it. Wasn't satisfied running on my phone, so I bought a tablet. Tablet wasn't big enough so I bought a bigger tablet.

This site also convinced me I needed new carpet which led me to @Quint4. He made up some fantastic PVC flooring that I have bled all over (it's not a day on the boat if I don't cut myself) and has cleaned up perfectly every time.

Now I have been convinced I need to reupholster the boat. That will be a few boat bucks. I'll let my wife keep thinking the site is saving us money..,

I get it, I was super happy with my boat this weekend, then the 480 thread started and now I'm looking at those.

I am always looking, what's that adage, "it's ok to look but don't touch". Now IF I were to put a deposit on something I think my wife would have a conniption!

I joined a long time ago. Back when Gary ruled the sarcasm button, Wingless was banned, Frank had a boat, Rusty worked for Sea Ray...Now I'm teary eyed. This site has been a source of immense knowledge for me, and cemented some great friendships, even if we are just tied up for a few hours for an airshow. Angus, heading South is on our list this summer. I'll always accept an invite for a beer.

Mike, I read you’re coming a South this summer as we wait to see you, the Admiral and all those beautiful daughters we have seen since you went North !

I have had many boats over the years, and have never belonged to a forum for any of the brands. I bought my sea ray 240SD in the fall of 19. So during covid year, I searched Sea Ray boats, Kinda looking for parts/Upgrade Ideas and the like. Well one of the first results was a CSR thread started by @rszarka called "Sea Ray SSS 1993 63 ft" . Even though I will never own a big boat, I got to reading that thread, and his trials and tribulations and was absolutely hooked. Well I read that thread from start to finish but did not join the site. Well the following year I had some questions about my sea ray and remembered this site and the people who helped that guy. So I joined and found not only great boat advise and help, but a great community of people. So I stuck around, and it is the first place I go in the mornings. You all seem to be great guys, who I would love to tip a pint with some day, well except for @Blueone, that guy is a dik
