It turns the phone into a nice camcorder. The enclosure is cut from solid aluminum and has a little weight to it, helps steady the camera and take away shake. Comes with two lenses, a macro for up close and a wide angle or maybe medium wide angle. I also stuck on a very wide angle so I have a 3 lenses. Also, comes with a directional mic that can be swiveled from front to back if you want to record commentary. Each of the 4 posts on the enclosure has a tripod mount and it has a cold shoe for mounting stuff like lights. I'm also using a free app called "almost like DSLR" which gives you a lot more control over the camera's iris. I can also mount stuff like shotgun mics etc... So it really turns the phone into a serious video production machine. Shoot with pro features, edit and deliver right from the phone. You have to remember the phone shoots in 720p for the 4 and 1080p for the 4S. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Just logged back on - was trying to google "Readylite 2.0", but couldn't find anything. I see you posted some more info about it - it sounds interesting. What is the name of this, Turtle?

It's the owle bubo.

No, it only fits in with a basic kind of case. They give you one with the unit if yours doesn't fit. It's only held in by pressure, but it's not going to fall out. It's in there good.

You can watch it in action this coming week, I'm going to shoot video of the trip south, I'm also going to stream live video on it from time to time.

Well, what do you know! That's really neat. I've been thinking about replacing our old video camera - but this may just serve our needs better. Thanks for posting this, Mike.

What will they think of next??? Cool device you've got their though....

you put the phone in airplane mode when shooting video.

When streaming video, you have to be online so no airplane mode. But what I did notice is that when you use the external mic, it has to be in airplane mode because the mic pics up RF interference from the phone.

Not to make more work for you, Mike, but it would be cool to see the difference between using the Bubo and just the phone. Even just a 20-second video, done under the same conditions would be enough.
