I have provided a link to the news release below but here are the new models for 2008:

175 Sport
185 Sport
210 Fission
230 Fission
290 Sundeck
290 Amberjack
300 Select EX
330 Sundancer
47 Sedan Bridge

No details are given so unless you can get some information from your dealer on some of these models I guess we will all have to wait to see what some of the changes are and what a "Fission" model is.

You sure it's not Fish'n? Maybe they are making bass boats now. :)

According to Rob Noyes, Sea Ray vice president of marketing, “Sea Ray has taken great care to ensure the new technology has been thoroughly tested. We have run the Zeus-powered boats throughout Florida and the Southeast for almost two years. This summer we ran one almost 2,000 miles from Knoxville, around Florida and back to our plant in Merritt Island. We wanted to run the new technology in real-world conditions. We do not like to take chances with our owners’ satisfaction.â€

Where do I sign up to do that test for them?

so the 33DA is back?

are they still making a 31,32, and 34?

I think part of thier problem is tooooooooo many models, cant be cheap to keep all those boats in production.

I have said it once, Ill say it again- they need to give the robot making the plugs a break once in a while.

It might be the 210/230 Select

The big story is that Merc is moving ahead with Zeus to counter Volvo's IPS drive. The IPS has been bullet-proof the last few years. I have not found any failure stories on IPS or word of problems with the drive. The new joystick option on the IPS makes bow and stern thrusters obsolete; although 16K for a joystick and a bit of software seems like an extreme form of gouging to me. Still the IPS is a nice unit made of nybral. Zeus is marine bronze -- not as good. Integrating the trim tab into the Zeus drive makes no sense.

Looking at today's market the Regal 4460 with IPS would be my next boat. Maybe I'll consider a 440DA with Zeus, but not for another five years. Past product performance seems to indicate that Merc's engineering group does not finish a product until it's been in production for half a dozen years.

Best regards,
Frank

Not to hi-jack but good to see you Frank C.

On Topic - It is hard for me to believe they would be re-doing the 185 already

I found out what the Fission is. It will be a special version of the 210 and 230 with special graphics and lots of other standard equipment for wakeboarders.

Is the 300 SLX a rebadged 290 or is it a new model?

I don't know..............maybe Sea Ray will have their web site changed in six or seven months and we will know then.

I think this says it all:

"The soaring-above-the-sea vibe starts on the raised-bridge deck, where clear sightlines stretch in any direction. The skipper will feel like a mission-control commander in front of an amazing array of technology – SmartCraft™ VesselView display and diagnostic instruments, illuminated switch panel, standard VHF radio, Clarion® stereo with Sirius® satellite receiver, six-CD changer and MP3 port."

I know I always feel like a mission-control commander in front of my stereo and MP3 port. Yippeee!!! Let me write you a check for that great WRITE UP!!!! And we are not talking about *any* normal switch panel. This switch panel is *ILLUMINATED*. WOW! And... look at that... there are INSTRUMENTS on the bridge!!! oh... I need this boat!!!!

Morons. And they don't need that comma in the first sentence.

Who is their target audience for this 47 foot Sedan Bridge? People that like to be talked to that way? HELLO?!!! SEA RAY??!!! HELLLOOOOO???!!!! Shall I bring crayons to sign the paperwork?

I wonder if the "amazing array of technology" includes a horn that doesn't sound like a wet fart.

They don't mention the horn.. but.. the "amazing array" does include a "standard VHF radio"... Sweeeeet.

I love this write up so much, I've stolen some of it for my signature. Maybe they'll get me for copyright infringement now. Skip? Your "towering cathedrals of torque" have nothing on a good stereo and MP3 port.
