The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

The usual suspects will be by shortly to tell us that he can get the part for $49.99. LOL

“The owner of a Hummer electric truck was shocked to learn replacing his tail lights is a rather expensive venture.”

“Had a shocker today,” the owner wrote in a Hummer EV Facebook group. “A new passenger side rear light for the Hummer EV; $4,040 just to buy it.”

“Car review website the Drive confirmed General Motor’s list price for one tail light is $3,045. Without factoring in labor, the list price for a set of tail lights runs for nearly $6,100, a cost equaling more than 5% of the Hummer EV’s MSRP.”

“The taillights in the Hummer EV have small microcontrollers installed within them. These chips control unique lighting functions in their respective lights,” theDrive suggested as a reason for the high price. “Additionally, the Hummer EV is a fairly limited-run vehicle thus far, meaning parts are generally more expensive until economies of scale kick in.”

EV's are awesome no matter how much parts cost. They will save the planet.

The leaf is one of the worst EV cars to take on a road trip, yet even it could do this trip and only stop once. It’s a 3 hour drive without stops. The leaf will fast charge in 40 minutes, or slow charge in 4 hours. And some how this person found a way to waste an additional 8 hours? Does that not seem odd to you?
First off, please detail how "the leaf is one of the worst EV cars to take on a road trip...". It is the first truly EV I can remember. Secondly, the owner does say it was partly user error and partly infrastructure.

EVs have their place with the natural climate change deniers. But don't force this shit on those of us who accept that the climate changes naturally and humans have very little (read NO) impact on it, nor can we stop it. Warming, cooling, whatever. What would we do if another ice age emerged, start blowing out "green house" gases that won't change anything? Speaking of the ice age, was that "dinosaur caused climate change"?

I had mentioned ordering this sometime back; it finally arrived! Just in time to be in the low teens. At least the snow has held off long enough to allow some bare spots in the road for a test run. It's more of a toy than anything, but it'll top 80 mph! I hope to use it for commuting to work.

You're gonna wake up the neighbors with that thing.
