Dave,
This seems to be the MO with Scott. I understand that he is a one man show. By all reports he is worth the wait but, I can understand your feelings here. I don't know if I could do business this way and will need to replace my panels next year. Good luck and keep us posted. It seems that he always comes through albeit, not without a little angst along the way.

Scott is something of a strange duck, but does great work and I've never heard him not get the job done (although sometimes he gets interrupted by personal drama). At two months, and with winter tinkering time beginning to count down, I think you can certainly begin to get annoyed...but I wouldn't be nervous. Would definitely call. I was on the boat this weekend admiring the job he did on my dashes. You'll be floored.

I was just going to put them in storage. Which ones do you need? I need to make sure everything works with the new gauges. I need to keep the tachs due to recorded hrs.

Depending on which gauge they are, I might be interested in a temp gauge...

I'm with you Todd. How can you do business this way? It really doesnt seem too difficult to return a phone call or reply to an E-mail from someone who has given you money. There has to be better options available without the added stress. Just my 2 cents. Brian

Scott just received my old panels this week. I have spoken with him twice and he has not been a problem to reach. I chose Scott, in part, based on the reviews of his work on this site. I am anxious to see the final product.....

I received my dash panels from Scott @ Vector, yesterday.
They look GREAT :)

Dave,
That is good to hear. Like I said, it seems that he always comes through. Please post some pics when you get a chance, even uninstalled!

I just got my panels in today. I have been waiting since 23th of November for these panels. Scott is sometimes hard to get whole of, but from talking to him he sounds like nice guy. In the next couple of weeks I going to put these panels in with my new set of gauges from Faria (Chesipeke white with ss bezel). If you guys have some time when getting your panels in from Scott, send him pictures of your project he would appreciate the images so he can show off his Panels. As soon I am completed with this project, I am going to send Scott before and after pictures.

Take Care

I spoke to Scott 2 weeks ago. He is having back surgery and will be laid up for a bit. My panels are installed and as everyone states his work is impecable!! Well worth the wait!!

That is great news that you recieved your panels from Scott. I just reviewed my transaction with him and I paid for these panels on November 21st. BTW, these panels are cookie cutter 3 piece for a 370 Sundancer I have been in contact with him on and off always getting the same story I'm sure everyone here has heard. I will wait it out but it sure is frustraing the way he conducts his business. Please post pics of your completed dashes I would love to see the finished product.
Regards

Josh, hang in there, it can be frustrating at times. But I do believe that Scott is sincere in his work. I believe at times that he takes on a lot. I am the in process of installing my panels but it will take awhile because I am adding some light bars behind some of my panels. I will send some before and after pictures. Scott does make some great panels and also some custom ones that he made for me.

Does anyone have experience with an alternate vendor, or is Vector Imaging a monopoly in this area?

Bob,
There are a couple of other vendors on this site that I have seen others recommend. I would give them a try after reading that Classic Mako thread!

I am sad to say; I too would look for an alternative source if ANY time frame was a factor in a purchase. My panel from Scott was perfect in every way and my service was very good. That just seems not to be the MO for dealing with him all the now. So disappointing that a small business with a quality product and demand can't run the business in a reasonably customer oriented way.

So with that said; "Beatings will continue until morale has improved".

I think it's fair to warn others. Your not alone. http://www.classicmako.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41240

Wow!!! .......what can I say. A new chapter gets written every time I come to this site. I can't vouch for anyone else except my own experience with Scott. I do know that Scott has had a lot of personal issues in the past. This goes to show that personal issues and business doesn't mix. I do wish him well.

The above panel was made for me by Tecnografic. http://www.tecnografic.com/
As you can see in the above picture the windlass main control screenprinting is not down far enough; I am sending it back to them and they are redoing this. So far easy to work with. They answer the phone better than respond to emails. The quality of the work is amazing. I have no cost comparison. The above panel was $110 plus shipping. It was custom made and I went back and forth with at least three templates before okaying the production of the panel. Originally there was a panel for the two switches for the windlass from the factory. It had raw white edges (not finished like the tecnografic piece). I added the fume detector below and thought that I would extend this panel to capture both the added fume detector and the factory installed 12 v outlet.

The new panel makes my olds ones look bad. I was told the old ones can be sent in, the original coloring and screen printing removed and replaced for about half the price of making brand new ones. I may do this next year.

Disregard the attached picture below. I accidently attached it and have not yet figured out how to delete it.

John
