Where did everyone go?

The site has become very buggy as of late, since the server upgrade. I think its a combo of people can't access, and have stopped trying.

This^^^

I know I have stopped trying to access this site as much, even though I am still a fixture at times.

Today seems better than yesterday but I also agree it could be the seasonal aspect of boating. All of us poor suckers living north of the mason/dixon are mourning the end of our boating season. The last thing we need is to come here and be reminded that you salt water suckers are just getting started :)

Your winterization routine should be to head south for 6 months!!!

My opinion is the site is starting to outlive its usefulness. Sea Ray doesn’t anymore make the type of boats mostly discussed here so the same old models have been talked about over and over. I know the 400 Sedan Bridge thread has discussed solutions to just about every problem that can come up. Nothing more to talk about there. Just point to the previous discussion. There was a year or two where a group of posters decided to use the site as their personal “Facebook”, but that seems to have run its course. Anyway, just my thoughts.

I live vicariously through the people that can boat year round. The pics and stories keep my seasonal affective disorder at bay.

an issue we have is that there is a ton of historical data stored here. I also think that Facebook has diluted the user base. There are dozens of sea Ray Groups on Facebook, some are even intended for restorations, which would be GREAT here! Finding answers to questions on Facebook is an exercise in futility, where finding answers here is generally easy.

It’s going to suck the day that the plug is pulled on this site. I hope we can get a backup before that happens.

I'm still here and enjoy discussing and helping people where I can. However I no longer own a SeaRay so anything I have to add is historical. I think also, and I see the same thing on the Cobalt forum, more and more new boat owners with new boats are not interested as much in DIY, they just want the boat ready to use when they want and are willing to pay the dealer to do all the Maintenace. A lot more discussion on using the boat vs taking care of it.

If a tree falls in the woods, and there's no one there to hear it ...............

I will have to disagree with you on every level. Period. This may be true for you but I don't see it being for others.

If I only came here to get help, it would be a very long wait as my boat and mechanics have never really been discussed in any fashion here. I still learn from other people(s) and there idea's on what they are doing to their old boat, even though mine is one of the oldest on this site, especially of it's size.

I come here to vent in the way of helping others, on bad days it may be more of busting chops at times, but I still try and help out. In todays economy and the cost of new boat's hitting an all time high, I think this site will be used more then ever. Especially in the realm of electronics and the like, which the site's owner has a vested interest in, meaning BOEMarine.

Yes, I agree that my needs from this site are quite narrow and my comments reflect that.

Hate to say it but November elections next year will have this place hopping with folks out of the woodwork by summer

Couldn't sign on the last couple days. Guess the site was taking on water. Plus was winterizing the boat.

Part of the reason I bot a sea ray was the support you can get on this site. Much better than many other sites.

Recently though the slowness has been killing me. I only have so much time at lunch and can’t wait
