Can’t you just adjust the cable? I have never even looked at mine yet. I will tomorrow.

It was a good day to make a wake yesterday .

Ok on with phase 3 stero upgrade today. Installed a switch in the master to switch between master bedroom speakers and/or anchor locker speakers. Then mounted the Kickers (8") in the locker and wired them up. I went the extra mile ($30) and installed the LED kit so at night I can enjoy the light show. Really happy with this as now sitting on the bow and I can enjoy some music, then when finished it all goes away....Love it.... On to the next project!!! Anybody heard form Jeffery, I need to pick his brain on my next project.

Those speakers look great! Can you imagine the added cool factor if you also installed linear actuators to open/close the anchor lockers? I was thinking about Jeff just the other day. Last I heard he was working on a TV install in the salon.

LOL... actuators would be awesome. Dam-it now you got me thinking, I could do it remotely no need to wire a switch.

Looks great. We added these last summer and love them. This is by far the best way to add speakers on the bow. I personally don't like the look of speaker on the rails or hard top.

Are you going to add speakers in the dash? This was one I was very skeptical of but it turned out far better then I could have imagined

When I bought mine, one of the first things I did was remove these from the hard top. I’ve been kicking around the idea of adding some up front somewhere. I think think I found the answer.

Zach, it was your post that I got that idea from. I agree I hate seeing that stuff hanging from the rails and mounted to the roof, plus this keeps it out of the elements so should last a lot longer.
While I love the idea of adding some to the dash that looks like a huge undertaking I am just not up for at this time. I was looking for that post of the pictures of your stereo but could find it. Can you repost that link or the photos again?

Here are the only two I have. Our A/V guy did the work and yes it did seem like a bit of an undertaking to get it to look like they belonged there. The speakers are JL M6 880's. They are sunk into the dash to help make it look like it was a factory option. We resprayed the entire dash to help make it look right.

So he cut them in place, hole saw or free hand?
What kind of depth did he have to work with for mounting?
How was the wire run accomplished?

SOS... what is Jeffery up too???? Is he installing a 85" TV in the salon?

Hey guys. Do you know how to access the windshield vent actuators? My port side is needing to be replaced.
Thanks.

Here is what I know
-Free hand cut outs
-Had to build a ledge to mount the speakers too once holes where cut so they could be "sunk" into the dash.
-There wasn't an issue with depth for the M880's

Sinking these into the dash was the only way to go. If just cut in and mounted on top of the dash it would have the same effect but the look wouldn't be right.

I will have to double check when I go to the boat on Thursday or Friday, but if I remember you unbolt the glass from the actuator inside and then go outside and flip up the glass that gives access to the actuator.

I agree and will most likely do the addition at some point. The fiberglass work does not scare me as I grew up in SoCal installing stereos and worked for some of the top shops that pioneered fiberglassing & stereo work. For now just waiting for the wind to die down so I can get her out of the slip and in the ocean to make some test runs to Miami and Key Biscayne before the Bahamas open back up so I can get over to the islands for the sunmmer. With the whole COVID thing I am ahead of schedule on the list of things I wanted to get done since I bought her. Only waiting on the canvas guy to finish my sun shade but his shop was shut down by the sheriff for not being a necessary business. Picked up my SunFly poles yesterday in Palm Beach now just need the canvas shade.

Any more pis of the stereo install are much appreciated as I enjoy seeing all that hard work.

OK, thanks. I won't get out to my boat for another 2 weeks but I will try that. Seems like there should be a way from the inside to get to the actuator motor.

Before you remove the actuator I would spray it with Oil or WD40 and work the switch a couple of times. More than likely it will start working.

ahodek - like others have said, use some PB Blaster and see if it will come loose. If so, then lube it with PB Lithium grease. if you use two people, one can run the switch, while the other gently pushes and pulls. That worked for the actuators on both my 340 and 410...

@ocgrant, was there a straight, easy run to get the speaker wire to the anchor locker?

Yes and no.... I decide to for go the forward stateroom speakers on the small seperate amp and installed them on the 6 ch amp I installed in phase 2. Since those wires were already up in the master at the volume control on the port side I new I could just use them. I removed the port side speaker and it exposes the wire runs for the anchor windless. I simply inserted a pair of speaker wires through that whole into the anchor locker then replaced the volume control with an A/B switch so if I want to use the anchor locker speakers I go to the master and press B, If I want to use the master speakers press A or both can be on or both off. Works great for me as I really never need them on in the bedroom anyway but made it so I could.
