58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

Has anyone replaced the refrigerator on the bridge and if so, which brand did you go with?

Steve,

I don't have one on the bridge, but in the cockpit instead. I had Isotherm, which I was pretty happy with. I replaced it due to rust. I decided to go with Vitrifrigo C51IXD4-F (C51IXAC) 1.8, as I gained more room in the same size. For the past 2 years it's been fine. Both Italian brands and decent quality. If I recall, both use danfoss compressors. If it's very important for you, please verify with a supplier. If you ask which I like better, I'd say that both perform similar. Since Vitrifrigo is roomier, it gets my vote. The cost was around $1K for AC/DC SS unit.

Here's a link to get an idea: https://www.suremarineservice.com/Galley/Refrigerators-with-Built-in-Compressors/C51IXD4-F.html

Yes, had the same leak. Had the local “Joe” do it. You may know him. It is easy to remove, but he had to replace the entire assembly. Be very carefully putting the bezel back in as he used the wrong screws and ran them up and through the counter gel coat.

I wish I was in FL with the boat - I’d get Joe’s number. It doesn’t look like fun.

glad to know you are still around. We will open up the N Ft Myers condo in mid-Oct.

Actually we use Capt Ed's now. Great service so far. The "other" guy dropped the ice maker on my teak floor and charged me $895 to replace the assembly. I could have purchased an entire new ice maker and not had to have gel coat repaired.

Started up Saturday and port engine display was in °C - no problem, switched it back. Started up Sunday, same thing. Called my MAN man today, guess what - the displays have a soldered in battery (just like the MMDS boards), and when it dies, the display defaults to °C. $1200 to have the display manufacturer replace the battery...Susan says put the other one in °C and learn to read Bar/liters per hour/Hectopascals!!! No wonder why I lover her!!

Actually it only takes about 6 quick keystrokes to switch it to °F, so no big deal. At least it doesn't switch to German at the same time!!!

My MAN man says it won't hurt anything with the battery dead...

And speed is in Furlongs per Fortnight.....

My kind of woman!...... as long as she didn’t continue the sentence with “I’ll use the $1,200 to buy a new pocketbook”!

Shout out to BMAC - right after he posted his Salon AC unit replacement pics, I had to remove my couches to clean out my AC drain lines. Thanks for the help and instructions Brian!
Carter i just had to clear my port AC common drain that drains the Master - bridge AC and currently working on the Port Common Drain - the V Berth ac return drains directly out of the port side of the bow - can you confirm your v berth drains there as well - thanks

I am having a Hi pressure alarm on my v berth ac unit- i have back flushed the unit and i think i have water blockage inbound to the unit - i am trying to decide how to back flush the inbound water hose - any suggestions

There’s a a/c distribution manifold mounted just forward of the starboard engine. With the pump breaker turned off, remove the feed hose for the fwd stateroom unit from both the manifold and the unit under the forward berth. Blow compressed air from either end until the line clears. Personally, I’d blow it out from the stateroom so that when it pukes out the debris, it will be in your engine room and not under the bed.

I only have one thru hull drain that doesn't use the common drains - my washer drains on the stbd side. My V berth AC drains into the common drain - I think port one. My dockmate's '05 55DB is the same as mine- no thru hull on the port side...

Thanks so much Carter - i received the drawings from Searay today and see the AC manifold in front of the STBD engine - the 05 drawings he sent showing the drains showed the vberth return goes to teh common drain on the stbd side but i think after 05 they added a direct drain from the vberth ac directly out the stbd side of the boat - i have back flushed this ac unit and it flows directly out this additional drain -

I don't have that on my '06...

I’ve not seen this before on any 550/58DB. Could this be an add on solution for a prior plugged return line? Every boat in this model that I’ve seen has the inside (cabin) AC return exiting out the common drain at the stbd exhaust and the bridge AC return exiting out the port exhaust.

Has anyone looked into retrofitting a Seakeeper stabilizer system in the 58 Sedan Bridge? Can it be done?

I'm with Jeff - my bridge and master stateroom return to the port common drain, and my salon units both return to the stbd common drain. I'm not sure which side the V berth returns to, but it is to one of the common drains...
