While I do appreciate all that Capt_Jack does, I have not been complaining about something I don't use. Hell I didn't even know the Capt was in charge of these kind of things. The notification option is a useful thing to have in my opinion and if it is something that is toward the bottom of the list to look at then so be it. The question was brought up in another thread about it not working and there was no definitive answer or explanation.

Having been on bb's for about 10+ years now, on everything from wakeboarding to harry potter to reefkeeping to sites you wouldnt send your kids to, and as well have hosted a few bb's, I have never ever never ever been told to use a different email server to receive notifications

Not that I am complaining, dont take it that way at all, I could care less about notifications really, and have been just helping "troubleshoot" by posting if its working or not and any error messages.

But dont pretend like it is the norm to be asked to use a different email server.

And there goes the server...thanks Morp :smt009

Sorry, I'm in the same line of business (own my own businesses) and well I'd never tell my customers go use a different email account. Let alone would I let someone use the server/domain to send spam to cause it to be blocked by RBL's

Morph, Capt_Jack volunteers a lot of time to keep this forum running well. The most important thing is that it works fast has great uptime. Aside from a hiccup up here and there we can all pretty much depend on the site working. Email notifications are somewhere down the list of priority things to fix. The people who seem to gripe the most about it are people that seem to have lots of posts and are logged in the most, so I'm not sure why they would even need notifications. I log in at least once a day so I have no notifications turned on. So Capt_Jack is getting to this particular problem as time permits. He has pinpointed it down to the domain name being blacklisted from certain servers - probably because of all the email notifications that get sent out and look like spam! I think when Capt_Jack said to use a different email provider he was serious, most web savvy people that would even know to visit forums like this would most likely have a few different email addresses. For instance, I have emails from about 8 different domains, plus gmail, yahoo, hotmail, and aim. Its pretty simple to switch to a different email provider while this problem shakes out if you feel you are missing out on email notifications. Hope that helps to clear it up - it was not a joke.

Telling someone to use a different email address would be like saying oh sorry your mail box at your house can't be used cause it fell off it's post, you'll need to move to a different house to get your mail. I've had my email address for 10 years, yea I might have a couple other accounts but I don't use them. I have 1 email account I don't check 5-10 email accounts a day I have 1 and only 1 and it's not my fault your server got blocked for spam it's apparently Capt_Jack's fault whether he's giving you free server or not. Just like at MM when I get my boat serviced and they do a crap ass job and give it to me for free it's still a crap ass job. I'd rather pay for good service then get crappy service for free, so don't make excuses.

I Agree!

Wow, somebody offers you a helpful work-around to receiving your email notifications and you spin it into us asking you to change email service in order to use the site.

One of our domain names was compromised while it was hosted by another company. In an effort to consolidate our hosting plans Capt_Jack has since inherited that domain name and put it on the same IP as CSR. So that immediately made CSR associated with a domain name that was blacklisted. So now Capt_Jack is continuing his process of unblacklisting both domain names. I will pass along your thoughts to Capt_Jack that he is doing a "crap ass" job. And I will suggest to him not give out helpful alternatives anymore. Of course suggesting to use a different email account is not the "norm". The "norm" is that email notifications would work.

Since you obviously don't like my opinion I just won't give it anymore. I have nothing further to say on the whole matter.

"The norm" is it gets fixed and no one ever even knew it was broken ;-)

Like i said though Jim, I dont really care about notification, and obviously I appreciate the site and all the work that goes in by you, Captn Jack and anyone else involved or I wouldnt have thrown a few bucks in.

I could easily change my email to another one, I have three that I use everyday and one that is just there and I seldom use or check it. I just don't want to change mine and Capt_Jack will get it to work again so cut him some slack. It takes time to get through all of the ISP's to get unblacklisted and it can happen to any body. Capt_Jack and Jim keep up the good work.

Jim I want to go on record and state that I am not complaining. I really appreciate this site. I was just chiming in that I am not receiving them.

The time and effort you, Wesley and Capt Jack put in to keep this place afloat is well appreciated by me.

Thanks!

Hotmail still not working. Even though I really don't want to change my email I think I will just to make sure it will work that way. Who knows. Keep up the good work guys.

I have submitted removal request from comcast now as well. Seems it was blocked there too.

Please keep in mind that these large ISP's get back to you in a week if your lucky. Not much we can do here except submit the removal requests and wait for it.

Thank you for contacting Comcast Customer Security Assurance. We have received and reviewed your RBL removal request.
Below each IP address you submitted in your request, we have included the result of our research. Please do not reply to this message.
208.78.40.61
The IP you previously provided has been removed from the Comcast.net blocklist.

Our filters have determined that email from the IP you submitted was blocked because it sent email to the Comcast domain with patterns characteristics of spam. Mail servers are typically shared by many users so it may be the case that another party using your mail server has sent spam, even if you have not. It is important that your email administrator is aware of their outbound spam problem to avoid being blocked by Comcast in the future. When contacting your email administrator, you should include the error message contained in the email which alerted you to this problem. Taking this step now will help avoid blocks in the future.

If you have a different IP addresses which you would like considered for removal from the Comcast blocklist, please submit your request to http://www.comcastsupport.com/rbl

Sincerely,
Comcast Customer Security Assurance

Thanks Capt Jack for posting that all.

I fully understand not hearing back for lengths of time. I PAY Yahoo and Google for the "sponsor search" and pay per click advertising, and it is still a day or two when I hear back from tech when I have a query.

ADMIN Here is the answer from yahoo

Hello Loren,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

I understand that you're not receiving emails from "www.clubsearay.com".
I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

However, please do know that very few messages are simply lost in
transit. If you are certain that your message was never delivered, then
there are several potential reason why this may have occurred:

What I'd like to do in this email is provide you with some possible
"root causes". I realize the information below can be long and
technical. However, I want to make sure we are providing you with the
necessary information up front, which I'm hopeful that with your help,
we will be able to isolate and resolve the problem.

First, please make sure that the sender has sent the message to the
right address (one mistyped letter in an email address can cause an
email to be sent to the wrong person). Also, make sure that they're able
to send messages successfully to other people. If you still don't
receive the message, there are a number of things that might have
happened:

1) The sender's address might be on your Blocked Addresses list.

The Blocked Addresses feature in Yahoo! Mail allows you to create a list
of addresses that you don't want to receive mail from. Mail from these
senders will neither arrive nor bounce, but simply be discarded. This is
the most common reason we've seen why messages aren't reaching you. To
check your Blocked Addresses list, follow these easy steps, if you're
using Yahoo! Mail Classic:

1. Click "Options."
2. Click "Blocked Addresses."
3. Scan the list for the address of the sender.

If you're using the New Yahoo! Mail interface:

1. Click "Options"
2. Select "Mail options" from the drop down.
3. Select "Spam" in the left-hand side bar menu.
4. Scan the list for the address of the sender.

2) The message arrived for you after you signed in.

Often, mail arrives while you're writing or reading another email. You
won't see this mail in your Inbox until you "Refresh/Reload" the page,
return to the Welcome Screen, or return to your Inbox by clicking "Check
Mail."

3) If you've set up filters, your messages might be going directly to a
folder other than your Inbox. This could even include the Trash folder.
Here's how to view your filters in Yahoo! Mail Classic:

1. Click "Options" on the top right navigation bar.
2. Click "Filters."

In the New Yahoo! Mail interface:

1. Click "Options"
2. Select "Mail options" from the drop down.
3. Select "Filters", and then click the "Create and Edit Filters" link.

Please Note: Messages in the Trash folder can be deleted by the system
at any time. Thus, you shouldn't put any messages in the Trash folder
unless you want to get rid of them. Once these messages are emptied from
the Trash, they're gone forever, and can't be retrieved.

4) The message may have been delayed. Messages are usually delivered
within a few minutes, but they can sometimes be delayed while in
transit. This is usually due to problems on the sender's mail server,
heavy Internet traffic, or routing problems. To find out more about
delays, visit:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/manage-35.html

If you continue to have this problem, simply reply to this message and
we will continue to investigate and troubleshoot for you.

Be sure to check the Official Yahoo! Mail Blog for more information
about our Yahoo! Mail product updates, new releases and bug fixes.

I changed my email address yesterday and had problems with that which has been handled by admin. I don't seem to be getting emails at the new address either. My local ISP/Phone company was recently taken over by a bigger one. My email that I have set in CSR is coastalnow.net, the original was clds.net, the new company is CenturyTel, centurytel.net. I still get my email with either the coastalnow.net or the clds.net address.
This link should take you to their home page.
