Starlink

Btw, the way this is designed I think it will be a pain to align properly. There’s nothing really aligning the parts together.

Looks amazing… I have to learn more about 3d printing, seems to be right up my alley just not sure I could design the stuff in the software that I want in my head.
The “L” bracket material is designed to connect it all up. In his video it looked pretty sturdy.

Buy a prusa and get familiar with thingiverse.com and printables.com. Someone has probably already designed something similar to what’s in your head.

after that Tinkercad is a free cad website that’s intended for children but it’s powerful enough for basic designs. I use that first and if I can’t make it work there I’ll switch over to fusion360. Mainly because Tinkercad works on my iPad and fusion360 requires my laptop.

Do you find you make a lot of things for your boat?

I’ve made a few items like a replacement horn cover with the sea ray logo, rail clips for towels, an adapter plate to adapt a new vhf speaker in place of the old speaker.

Oh and storage trays to replace the failed DVD players

These are great for the TV remotes, keys, wallets, etc.

I also made a diverter for the master stateroom so that the ac doesn’t blow on our face at night. It’s not pretty so no photos of that. But it works beautifully. I might revisit that and see if I can do a better job with it now that I know it works as intended.

Now that would be a useful item! Biggest annoyance on our current and past Sea Rays. Whatever you’ve developed must be better than the rag I’ve taped overt my vent.

Here it is. I threw this together the week before we were going on a trip and it worked so I haven’t touched it since. It’s been there for 18 months now.

Will he print two?

@jmauld Do you want to get some Pteg and print some up? PM me and we can talk about that if you like.
I should be finishing the first one today. Who wants to be the tester? 1.15 rolls of filament was used, so I will need to order another roll for the second one. The question is do I go ahead and start on the second one, or wait until one of you tests it first?

Has anyone taken on the task of trying to run the starlink unit on DC via a dc to dc converter? Our starlink worked great for working remotely last year but had to run the gen the entire work day. Would like to trim some of that down this coming season. Even if I could cut that in half.

Probably for another thread but have always envisioned something similar to a bathroom ceiling vent. Blank in the middle with vented louvers on 4 sides to allow air out the sides and not directly at you.

Let Grant test the first one. I am not ready to switch over to that mount just yet. I still need to remove my Dome first.

Great job so far, looks great from the pic's. Also what you have made for your boat is pretty nice.

I posted a link about this further up in this thread. But I have all of the parts just haven't wired it up yet. I have some other projects to finish up before I move on to that re-wiring project. Looks very straight forward, you just need to swap pairs in the cable as it is not standard RJ45 network wiring.

Thanks will back track and have a look for it.

That’s what I was thinking for version 2.

I am game to put it together, paint and mount it. Need to go back and watch his video to order some aluminum "L" material. Need to find the specs where to cut the dishy to remove the motors.
