Boat Info
"Volare", a 2003 Sundancer 410, with original Raymarine electronics.
Engines
2, 350 hp, Cat 3126's
My son and friends came to the boat in Oakland Ca, and found everything in the cockpit strewn about by vandals, but no damage. He opened the engine hatch and found it untouched. He cleaned things up, turned on the engines for a few minutes and left the dock, about three minutes later, in the channel both engines shut off as he drifted towards rocks. He dropped the anchor, and stopped to think. He opened the fuel valve cabinet and found that those %$#^&* vandals had shut off both fuel valves. He turned them back on and a few minutes later the engines started up. I'm sure I would have thought to check that too - in about a week. I've surrendered my title of captain and promoted my son to that rank.

Oh man that's horrible. I'm glad there was no damages. Good job on your son's part, you trained him well.

Those are pretty secure docks you are on so I am surprised at this. I'm glad to hear your "boy" had the wherewithal to drop anchor and check into things...

We still need to get together for lunch!

Oh man... great thing he kept his whits... glad you got everything cleaned up... oh congrats to the son for the promotion...

Vandals suck!! Good thing your son was astute enough to figure out the issue.

I'm sure I would have figured it out too......after smashing on the rocks for a bit!!!

Good job preparing him dad!! That's a proud moment.

Like the others said, you're thinking about this all wrong:smt001. You did a great job teaching him to think on his feet and that is a reflection on you! That's a skill that, unfortunately, more and more of our youth are lacking.

All of this praise is nice but his son, I believe, is in his 30's so I would not consider him much of a youth...

Maybe I just should of said "people" instead of youth... That would of been a more accurate representation of our society, in general.
