I don't have near the stories that you guys do, but here's my story.
I started boating (barely) as a kid - no boats in the family. I learned boating through boy scouts and explorer camps. I joined the Navy after a 2 year attempt at an Electrical Engineering degree at University of Kentucky (Go CATS!). I later redeemed myself by earning my B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute while I was on shore duty in upstate NY. During my 8 years and 1 week in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club (operating nuclear reactors on land and in submarines - USS Maryland [SSBN-738]), I often rented the speedboat from MWR and took it to Lake George with friends. After leaving the Nuclear Navy, I joined the civilian nuclear industry operating bigger nuclear reactors for electricity production in the midwest. The admiral and I later moved to eastern TN to be closer to the clones' grandparents. I now work for an "alphabet soup" company operating their nuclear reactors - I tell everybody I am Homer Simpson's boss. We bought our first boat - the 210 Select and loved it. After a few years with it, we traded up to the 290 Sundancer so that we could overnight with the kids.
