More progress on the hull side gel repairs. After 23 years there have been a few dock rashes and some less than desirable gel repairs. We actually believe some of the repairs may have been factory and they just never color matched properly. To order the gel we need to submit a hull #. My hull # comes back as having antique white gel so that is what was ordered. Turns out my boat is NOT antique white, it is arctic white! Luckily my expert had some arctic white from another job he is doing and could use that while waiting for the new order for my boat. Unfortunately, repairs over the previous years were done with antique white and it does not match at all. LOL
So, we have the port side wet sanded to 800 grit from the salon sink drain to the stern and we ground out the bad spots and sanded to prep for the new filler. (shown in the 2 long gouge lines). There were also 2 so-so repair spots above where we ground out the bad cracks. On the starboard side there were 3 yellow spots that were in need of assistance and I thought we would just wait until next year to tackle those. When I got to the boat today he had already prepped them for gel, so we tackled them too. He was already setup and rolling and it only took 2 hours to prep so why not do it?
Tomorrow we tackle some wet sanding on the hulls, the forward bow hatch cutout for the power cord and a large repair job on the foredeck non-skid. This was an ugly spot!!! AND, they used antique white to try and repair at some point in the past. We shall see how that comes out next week.
