Month Long Cruise through New England - Four Suns

Hope you and your family have a great and safe time. Such a beautiful boat and such a beautiful way to spend your time.

Fair winds and following seas, Gary!

When I bought my 400DB I took her from Lake Ontario all the way to the Potomac River and had a blast (Oswego Canal, Erie Canal, Hudson, Atlantic, Delaware Bay, C&D Canal, Chesapeake, then up the Potomac). Cape May is a great stopping place as is Atlantic City and Liberty Landing Marina (as you probably already know).

Look forward in following your travels on your Blog.

Michael

I did have to delete one comment last night and I don't really know how long it stayed on the site here. I may have to turn "moderation" on so I review comments before they are posted. Some clown named "never-a-sea-ray" decided to give his view of my blog and my previous participation in Club Sea Ray... All I can say is this is not a public forum...

Gary,

Keep up the good work on your blog. I get at least one good laugh out of every post.

Now what is this deleting comments and censorship thing. I never thought I would hear you doing things like that.:smt043:lol:

It's his sandbox. . and he can make (or change) the rules. I suppose that is the point!

Gary: Fair winds and Fair seas on the trip!

Awesome Gary...Have a safe and fun trip with the family. Memories for a lifetime for sure!

4 boys...I hope you packed enough medical supplies for the inevitable sibling feats of power and dominance.

Love the blog and bookmarked it...I couldnt sign in to post comments because I really cant stand to make yet another profile on the web :smt100

Nice blog, Gary. Not too stuffy, like some, but interesting and informative for those of us looking forward to long time=distance cruising ourselves. Do you take the photos as well?

Tom

I made this a sticky! This will be great reading. Hopefully it stops raining soon so we can get the show on the road. Are you coming through Annapolis or shooting right outside and going up the coast?

I want to go up the coast on the outside of VA and DE but I really want to have a good long shake down and if anything breaks tomorrow, I know I can get parts or people in Annapolis...

If you get to Annapolis before 4PM or so you can tie up right in ego alley (downtown). Worse case scenario you can get a mooring.

We pulled into Annapolis about 7:30 PM.... Going to the Charthouse and get some food...

Gary, you've got a nice tailwind today. Should save lots of fuel.

We are in Atlantic City at Donald Trump's marina.. or Jimmy Buffet's marina.. whoever.

I just updated the post for yesterday.

I'll try and get the writeup done tonight for our trip today.

I got bounced around today on the Deleware Bay pretty good (now there is a manly body of water) with a strong 20 knot SE breeze (measured on my wind gauge... forecast was 5-10) coupled with a 3 knot opposing tide (ebb). After that I had some black smoke coming out of my starboard engine exhaust above 1900 RPM (and still do) so I bet I stirred up some crap in the fuel tank. The engines still are running on spec with everything that has a gauge and are preforming exactly the same so I don't get it. They both hit WOT spec as well today. I haven't even gone in the engine room this evening but will after I get drunk at dinner.

The ocean run today was wonderfull. SE swell and very smooth. I wanted to go all the way to NYC but I'm beat...

Off to dinner and some beers.

Great update. It is a bit breezy out. I'm stuck in a little a little nook in oyster bay. I heard many distress calls in NYC harbor, it's rough in there. Watch out for floating condoms.

Ego alley is the deadend of the Annapolis harbor. It is a relatively small area where extremely expensive yachts are known to visit, hence "Ego Alley".

Thanks guys, I thought it was something like that. Did you get any pictures of the yachts there Gary? Can't wait to see your captions.(Grin) Could be something like "and here is another nice yacht, owned by somebody that is stepping on the little people again" (Grin)

I just updated it. I'll correct the spelling later.

We are going to stay here today. I'll probably regret it as the weather craps out now but the crew and captain want a day off.

Well it was more of the same today so you didn't miss much, except I think the wind was much stronger and started... actually I don't think it ever stopped. When you wake up in the morning and you're automatic watch is fully wound, you know it was a rough night on the water.

Oh, bet $10 for me on #8 at the craps table. I'll collect my winnings when you are on your way back.

Gary.....

Thanks for the blog......It is like reading a good book. I just sailed from Boston to P-town and P-Town to Boston on my buddies sailboat. 9 hours to get there, 8 hours to get back....I can't wait for next weekend to pay $5.50 gallon for diesel and get back on a real boat....Keep the posts up and when you are on Nantucket/Vineyard hopefully I can catch up withyou and furlough you from from family for a beer or two or three....Safe travels and keep the blog updated.....By the way, how do you get a month off from work...

John
