The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

on the news the other day they were saying how much gas prices have come down like it's a great thing. They failed to mention they are still up 80% or so since Biden took office

Not to be a generalist but a funny Prius story -
Florida highway 46 between Sanford and Mims is a two lane 55 MPH stretch through the swamps about 25 miles. I was behind a Prius in my Challenger Hellcat Redeye. When traffic was heavy coming toward us the Prius driver would slow to 40 MPH then when it cleared, he sped up to 60. It was infuriating and looked intentional. So a break comes for a legal pass, I pull out to pass and the dude speeds up and continues to 80 MPH so I pull back in behind him and he reduces back to 40. Next opportunity - he speeds up again and I've had enough, pull out and at 70 MPH my car is smoking the back tires and I blow by that bastard at over 130; and I mean I really blow by the dude. My caretaker tells me after the pass sitting in the passenger seat that she looks over and there it was - scrawny middle aged with a ponytail and mask on all by itself in a Prius.
The last 35 miles of my trip to the lake are on a very hilly highway (Ozark Mountains). Almost never fails that there is a phucking Prius in the left lane not passing anyone that can only go up the hills at 50 MPH and then hit a whopping 75 or 80 on the down hills. I usually have my cruise set at 80. These phucking eco terrorist think they are entitled to the left lane. They always get pissed when I pass them in the right lane and try to race me. I just blow by at 100 and watch their little angry cars disappear in the rearview mirror. YMMV.

Typical EV owner. I’m sure there are exceptions but most are assholes.

Prius drivers are not the only a-holes on the road. We have a whole new generation of rude and bad drivers. It is almost the norm today. There is a special class who do not like Porsche drivers. I’m usually driving about 7-9 MPH above the posted limit. People like to aggressively tailgate when you do that. Pick up drivers like to drive in front of you with their right tires on the shoulder.to stir up dust when you are in a clean car with the top down. It have never had a Prius driver do that. Fairly common practice for pick up drivers in rusted junkers. Probably class envy.

Maybe they’re just from MN ;)

I hope you in turn slowed to 30. You should have just slammed on your brakes and imagine the asshole finishing his journey with soiled trousers

The problem with that is the public perception towards all diesel owners and how we're collectively "destroying the environment". It's the same thing that happened around here with target practicing in the desert and riding dirtbikes in the mountains. It just takes a couple of jackasses shooting road signs and riding off-trail to get groups who are legitimately concerned about how that screws up the lands to push legislature into closing off huge areas to the rest of us. It's the "coal-rollers" that got the masses riled to the point that it's now virtually impossible to do anything to your diesel, environmentally-compliant or not, at least in areas that require emissions testing. Besides, if you see black smoke from a diesel, that's just unburned fuel (and money) pouring out of the tailpipe that contributes absolutely nothing to the power output. It's strictly for show.

I hate those 'coal-rollers' that smoke people out. I'k love to punch them in the face of flatten their tires. Very rude and disrespectful.
