Good thought. That’s actually why I started with the sump box. And it’s why I ran water into it first (before cleaning it). It was running great and never overflowed. That area is bone dry. I don’t recall the exact message but it was real similar to the fwd bilge alarm. Instead of saying “bilge”, however, it said “sump”. I almost missed noticing it. I assume I’d get a “fwd emergency bilge” or similar message for that bilge pump?

My Monitor does report low oil pressures, too. Messing with my oil sender revealed that to me! I haven’t seen any high temp or gen shutdown messages (thank goodness).
I'll test my shower sump today. Maybe I do get that same message and never realized it.

I just printed the system monitor schematic from my 2001 manual supplement and sure enough the sump pump is shown in the circuit. Learn something new every day.

Well I checked the owners manual on my boat and it doesn't show the sump pump. It shows the nine I originally thought. Guess I gotta test it.

The sump box has an overflow drain that goes to the forward area in the bilge.

And my boat the system monitor also reports when the pump is working in the shower sump.

Bill,

I never noticed that in my manual. That's really helpful information! I wonder what else is in the manual that I can learn? I read those things from time to time... my wife thinks I'm nuts.

The shower sump reads out as
“Pump Alarm Forward Sump”
on the systems monitor screen.
Just tested mine. I get nothing on the system monitor display when the shower sump pumps. Must be a 2003 feature.

Agreed.

Not sure why the later models were modified to the second state room bunk area.
To me it makes sense, in that it would alert you that there is a problem needing attention (shower sump pump not working). By dumping it into the forward bilge, one may not be inclined to pay attention to it, since some boaters are used to water there for other reasons.

I’m guessing it would take a lot of water to build up enough depth in that large area to set off the pump. One reason I made that modification was that I look in the e/r a lot more than I do under the bed. (Never). The only time I ever get water in the forward e/r bilge is when I’m out in such slop that the thru hull goes far enough below the water that water gets past the loop in the hose and then leaks past the check valve at the bilge pump.

The pump And float are in about a 1 ft by 2 ft recessed area. I had mine go off from a slow drip from a freshwater fitting right next to it. It didn't overflow the recessed area when it alarmed and pumped.

I don’t have my notes handy, can someone here tell me about zincs on the 400SB? I know I need a B12 for the hull, what sizes for the rudder and trim tabs?

Thanks

This is the one that matches your gauge. When in doubt first check Flounder Pounder for original Sea Ray OEM parts.

A few weeks ago I replaced by starboard oil pressure sender with this part number that I bought from Amazon. It didn’t read anything at the helm. The old, broken, center would bounce around like crazy. This one was dead at zero. I got another one of these, from a local shop, and popped it in today. It works beautifully. So I’m not sure what to think about the one from Amazon other than it was DOA. But, I’m happy, now my oil pressure at the helm reads properly. I’m not sure why I always choose to do these jobs on the hottest and most humid days of the year. But I am glad it wasn’t the port engine sending unit.

R3 for trim tabs. That's it. Just hull zinc and trim tabs are all that's underwater. Maybe the gas boats have a rudder zinc?

How hard is it to repair a non functioning trim tab? I assume it’s a haul out. Is it something I can do easily? Do lines need to be bled?

Is this the correct filter for the holding tank? Where is our holding tank? Thanks for the help in advance!
