welcome sir  sounds like you've paid your duesI am Rich. I am 64 and have been boating since my Dad bough his first Amesbury dory when I was 6. I have been hooked every since. Like most of us I could have retired years ago except for the boat expenses. I presently live on my 86 390 EC and am presently solidly locked in ice in Fall River Ma. I have 3 power cords running to the boat so I have 90 amps available for heat etc so I am not at all cold. The boat is also shrunk wrapped in clear wrap so I get a green house effect. The other day when the sun was out at noon it was 19 degrees outside but 94 in the cockpit. I was working in my shorts and a tee shirt.
I also have a Baja 232 Boss. It only clips along at 68mph GPS in Narragansett bay and sucks down around 20 gph but hey it is awful fun to get to Block Island in 40 minutes.
the tiny boat is an AB 310 lightweight with an 8 hp Honda. That will do around 20 sipping fumes.
I am glad to join the club and look forward to reaping the collective knowledge this site has to offer.
Amen! And the more boat on the trailer the more in my pocket. A new body of water each week sweetens the deal. The only blisters I'll worry about might be on my hand.Excluding navigation hardware, I like the advantages of simple old stuff.
I think that not only with the boat but every time I jump in the 64 F100 too.
1989 280DA here, applying for membership in the Hole In The Water Club. She may be 26 years old, but she's new to me as of the beginning of March. Been lurking around on this Sea Ray forum since before that....lots of good information! If the survey/mechanical inspection/purchase don't count toward membership dues, maybe the 3 step polish, stern drive maintenance, re-striping the boot, converting the interior lights to LED, replacing the windshield screw cover gasket, and freshening the bottom paint might be enough...?? And of course that isn't the end of the list. So yeah.....hole in the water. Reporting for duty! Counting the days until launch!
My name is Dan
And I have a problem
"Dancing on the Water" is the 14th boat in the past 37 years
Only one of which was not moored on Lake Michigan
Being on that body of water also signifies having a problem!
Boats have ranged from a 16' Glaspar with a 65hp Merc
3 Sea Rays, 2 Chris Craft, 2 Mainships, 1 Cal Sloop, 1 Gulf Star,
1 Bayliner, 1 Owens, 1 Cutter, and now my 350 EB
Also 2 Dingys, 1 Wave Runner and newly purchased 13' SeaRayder Jet Boat
Admiral says something has to go (might be me)
Have posted all of the upgrades done on Dancing over the past 6 years
This year new Bridge upholstery is being done
New Rear Oil Seal (Plug Kit) for leak in transom
New Swing Arm and new Bravo Kit Back Cover
LET THE BOAT DOLLARS FLOW!
Dan
Welcome to all  ...Sorry for my late responseMy name is John, and am applying for membership in the "hole in the water club".
I'm 46, and took my first boat ride when I was 6 months old on my Grandfathers 52' Chris Craft. My Father, who would have been the model member, had many Father & Sons boating projects. Usually involving bringing a derelict back to life. In my first 20 years we restored a 30' Chris Craft, a 30' Chance Cutter, a 28' Chris Craft, a 50' Roule Schooner and eventually a 72' Jeannue staysail schooner. In addition to these were numerous skiffs and runabouts. All of these were basket cases when we got them, but with lots of love, elbow grease and $$$ became respectable vessels. As a teenager, my brother & I had a '57 Chris Craft 17' utility that was purchased for $700. After restoration and several years of fun, it was later sold to help fund college.
After my Father's passing I got away from boating for 25 years (but always on my mind). In Oct 2013 I purchased a 1997 Stingray 200lx that was in disrepair, at a price I couldn't say no to. Over the winter I went through all the systems, compounded the hull, and had new upolstery installed. My first fiberglass boat, so much easier to work on! Had a blast on it last year.
This brings me my current project, purchased last month. A 1986 SeaRay Weekender 300. A two owner (but one family) boat that has been on the hard for 20 years. A total restoration project, I hope to have it in the water later this season. This of course will be after much love & $$$$.
Hope we I qualify for membership!
John
