Re: How old were you when you bought your first boat? The young are not buying boats
My dad was a boat builder (and so was 2 uncles) - but my first truly own vessel - was an optimist at age 6 or 7ish - in terrible condition. But with my dads help we got it salvaged to a reasonable running condition.
But my dad always had a boat in the "works" in the backyard - either built from scratch - or salvage project. So every 3 years or so we got a new boat to play in - and every 3rd year he usually sold the "working one" a few months before he finished the "new one" - so summer holidays on the boat got cancelled every 3rd year. and he still does that now 35 years and 12 (sail)boats later.
My first power boat was the Bayliner 2455 CS - when I was 24 - but that was a true money pit - so that vaccinated me against powerboats for quite some time.
