New searay 370 Venture

Care to address the boxy cigarette carton hull profile when compared to other Sea Rays, and and also those huge black panels down the side of the boat?

Not too fond of the sharp lines on any of the new boats.

I prefer the softer curves such as are on our era of boat, but the new window design is really perplexing.

Not sure if I like it, or hate it and the new window design would definitely fit better if it did not look like they were an afterthought on the designer's part. Maybe if it were recessed into the mold versus the appearance of being "stuck" on the surface of the hull.

A freind who works for MM said the 370 Venture was a great ride but he heard it wouldn't stay on plane below 4000+ rpms with only a few people in the boat? Is this true? Seems odd but I know many who attended the CSR get together had the opportunity to take her for a ride. The boat will be at the Tampa boat show this weekend so I'll be able to check it out!

Great pictures and notes by those who have been on board.

A few notes about some of the comments I've seen.

For those commenting on the $400k number, have you priced out a new Sea Ray 350DA or 370DA recently?
The MSRP on a 350 can hit $400 depending on the engine options and features. The MSRP on a 370 can reach $500k. My dealer has a 2012 370 in stock with Yanmar's and it's listed at $470k. Remember, MSRP is not what people pay.
My dealer told me they will likely end up selling in the mid 300's.

I heard from a few people they didn't like the head room gaining access to the bed. It also looks like the headliner under the steps is just exposed fiberglass, no material. Ouch.

I have also read numerous comments about the new lines/style to the new Sea Ray cruisers and yachts. From what I've been told by my dealer they are trying to compete more with the European boats. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, it's just a different look. I do think the 370 Venture looks odd and I don't necessarily care for the arch. For a boat that size, and for the reported cost, I want more hard top.

And not to stir the pot.. but my dealer told me this past weekend that Sea Ray is working on a new boat in the 70'-75' range. It will be a bridge boat. That's all I was told.

For the price I wouldn't consider it unless it had more of a hardtop. I'm surprised that they went with the small arch. It seems like the trend has been moving away from canvas as more and more people are looking for the convenience of hard tops...especially in this range.

My random lottery win has just been re-purposed.

The 370 we were on really needed a refigure on the props(the captain even commented on that)
and the boat had a MINIMUM of 10 people at a time every time out
and really 4000rpms isn't that bad with a 7000 redline and a boat well past it's NORMAL load
that boat would have been even more impressive with 4-6 people

Hello. I would have to agree with some of you that this is truly an innovative and truly outstanding accomplishment for a sport cruiser of this size. Keep in mind this is not the final product and SeaRay will continue to improve the boat. I have been on the boat and it runs great for the power it has. The boat gets out of the whole "ok" but once she up she runs great. with half tank of fuel and 8 people on board we saw 43.6 mph. Does a 370 or 350 Dancer With 8.2's and inboards run that fast no.. (Axius 350 I have run in the 46mph range.) I have included a link to a quick clip of the boat running. Take note that all you really hear is the wind. The Verados are spinning in the 6400rpm range. . This is a Great boat for Barneget Bay boaters (shallow water). If anyone has any questions on this boat Please call MarineMax Brick at 732-840-2100.
And why wasn't I invited? :) Have one in Brick?

That video was taken on the river behind Sea Ray in Knoxville in the early part of the week of the dealer's meeting that preceded the Homecoming we were invited to, probably on Wednesday. The Sea Ray employees on the docks and boats were given 3 shirts for the week's events. The boat driver was from PE&D in Florida and is wearing a gray shirt. I was there on Thursday, which was blue shirt day; and on Friday...orange shirt day.

Also, I think there is only one 370 Venture right now and it was my understanding that it was going back to PD&E in Merritt Island then to the Ft. Lauderdale boat show. I'd be surprised if it ever came to NJ, so I doubt you missed seeing it there........but you shoulda made the trip to Knoxville. We played with the Venture all day Friday and it is an amazing bit of engineering.

I got to see it at the Tampa boat show a couple weeks ago. I have to say I was not 100% impressed with the boat. While I think the concept is good and this is boat is a good starting point for future cruisers with outboards I found the cabin to be small for a 370 and the minimalistic approach the new Sea Rays have would take some getting used to.

Keep in mind the new measuring "scheme" Sea Ray is using............the 370 Venture is more like a 320DA than a 360DA when your boat was built. I had the same "What????" feeling after running the 510DA in Knoxville. I looked up the specs when I got home and my old 450DA is actually a bigger boat than the new 510.

I agree. I sat there shaking my head when I went into the new 280 and then the 330. I'll stick with the older models for now. The problem is when I want to upgrade in the next few years these are the "used" boats that I'll be looking at unless I want to go older.

I agree the the length games are rather ridiculous. It comes down to whether or not the boat fits your needs for the price. That goes for all of the new size ranges.
I still love the boat and what it represents.

Had a chance to check this boat out. While the idea is novel I didn't care for it. No way did it feel like a 37ft boat. By the time you entered the cabin you felt like you were 5ft from the bow. The aft cabin is large but what kills it is the headroom and the lack of. You gain all that space by using outboards but you really cant utilize it because there isn't enough headroom to comfortably enter the area. On this size range of boat there wouldn't be enough freeboard to even do it.
The new 410DA wasn't bad. I feel they increased the freeboard on this boat to give the aft cabin area a little more headroom. When you board and sit in the cockpit you really notice how high out of the water it sits. The hardtop felt low but I'm assuming they did this to keep a pleasing silouhette.

The 350 with 8.2s and BIII will blow past 43.6 mph.

Same thing I felt when looking at a 2010 450DA. My 2003 410DA is bigger even though the LOA is identical. I like some of the features of the newer boat but not having 1 head and a curtain to enclose the mid-berth stateroom. Now, we looked at a 1998 500 Dancer (Not sure why it's considered a Dancer when it lays out like an Express?) last weekend with friends and it's a huge boat. 55'+ LOA counting the swim platform.
