in the case you are the only one who is wearing a mask , and purely for your own protection a n95 is of course better . they fully seal why you inhale and give a certified and tested own protection . but they either have and exhaust valve or are designed to blow by sidewas during exhaust so you do not protect others fully .

n95 in germany are not widely available for the public , i got them via my work and put the priority on myself and family protection , tgey are of course more expensive .

neither usa or any other country can recommend n95 for the public since there are not enough of them

Just read and follow the CDC guidelines for masks, it's that simple.

I don't see how this kills the vaccine, Dr. Fauci is just being honest as usual. Getting the vaccine (at least the ones that are seemingly close) is a two step process then there is a period yet to be defined for the antibodies to develop such that the person vaccinated will not get the disease (or 90-95% won't). So, just from that perspective a person who is vaccinated would be prudent to maintain social distancing and masking for a while.
Probably more importantly, and not well understood, is that it is not clear that the vaccines currently in play will stop transmission by those vaccinated. Looks like according to the initial data that they will prevent disease. But that is not necessarily the same as preventing infection. A vaccinated individual could get infected but still be capable of giving it to others, much like what happens with asymptomatic individuals now. Insight as to whether ending transmission will be a beneficial side effect will take time. So, even if the vaccine works and saves lives, there may be mitigation that needs to occur for quite some time, perhaps until pretty much the whole world has been vaccinated.

No problem. But the whole point of a vaccine is so we don't have to do all this masks, social distance, etc. crap. When Pope Fauci comes out and says, yes we have a vaccine, but you still have to do all that crap, then what's the point of the vaccine. Nobody will take a vaccine if it doesn't mean they can get back to a normal life.

"Because the general public has not received training on proper selection and use of respiratory PPE, such as an N95, the determination of close contact should generally be made irrespective of whether the contact was wearing respiratory PPE. At this time, differential determination of close contact for those using fabric face coverings is not recommended."

The point of the vaccine is to stop people from dying. I think lots of people will get the vaccine for that reason alone.

All I have heard is "we can't get back to normal until a vaccine." And then there was, "we can get back to normal when there is a vaccine." If a vaccine still requires us to wear masks, social distance, limit restaurant capacity, limit gatherings, etc. etc. then what's the fkg point? Who in their right mind is going take a vaccine rushed thru the process, with zero study on longer term effects (because there is no long term yet) if they still have to "mask up" etc.?
 
any vaccine needs time to make your body develop the antibodies ( about 28 days ) . its not you get a vaccine and are immune next minute . i think fauci was misunderstood .

regarding mortality rate : i have personally flown people who finally recovered but went thru hell of their life being in coma on ICU and mechanically ventilated for weeeks .

this people are nursing cases now .

I agree with you on a rushed vaccine with no idea about long term effects but it will be the summer before you and I can get our shots if not longer. The experts had warned us about the vaccine and how long they take to develop and come to market. Trump has been the one down playing masks and social distancing after the vaccine starts to be deployed. I believe Trump thought as does his followers that the vaccine would end Covid-19 in a few months at the most. That's not reality this will still be here next year at this time.

Pope Fauci was talking about masking up, etc. after you get the vaccine. And not just during the time it takes to develop antibodies. Once all the high risk people are vaccinated, it's time to open up. I no longer will be able to kill grandma, so we are good to go. Thereafter, I can decide the risk and situations that I chose to be in. Enough is enough.
