So I have look and looked for an answer but have failed to find one or a direction on a fix. I have a 2000 410 with 3126's. The port engine started to lack power the summer of 21 and we changed the turbo over the winter. In the spring there was no change still would only run to 2100 2200 lagging behind the starboard engine. Last summer I installed boost gauged and the port is 6/7 pounds less boost at 2200, and will not rev under load past 2200. I had a retired cat marine mechanic of 35 years come out and said the cups needed to be reamed. He reamed the cups and set the rack, and still no change. This last weekend we blew the fuel line back into the tank. No change. And thoughts on what it could be? I roll some coal from the engine down on power and boost. Could the aftercoolers be clogged? I have only run 40w, but I don't know what the previous owners used. About 1875 hours on each engine. Any help would be appreciated.
I had a similar issue on my 3116 it was clogged aftercoolerSo I have look and looked for an answer but have failed to find one or a direction on a fix. I have a 2000 410 with 3126's. Yes I send samples th Blackstone at the end of the season when I change it 25 30 hours and every year it has come back without issue. We did change the hose also when the turbo was changed. The starboard will hit 23 psi and the port 14 when getting on plane.
I flushed mine myself while still installed on the engines, some disagree with this approach but it worked well for me. Check out the videos on my YouTube page below if you're interested.
I doubt you can get them to match exactly, ever. Just to many variables. Might be the port get more sun/growth on that prop.
My starboard engine is a little "stronger" than the port. EGT is slightly higher on Starboard as well (which I would expect), but the boost is slightly lower. Maybe I need to clean up the port after cooler!
yeah, exactly. Curse of twin engines - they’re never really twins. I did notice the starboard side pitched down even though tabs were totally retracted, so maybe one is sticking a little bit. I’ll swim under and take a peek this weekend.
boat ran great at wide open though. Just a tick over 31mph and that’s with the dinghy on the platform
